The head office of Elder Dempster Lines was India Buildings on Water Street in Liverpool, near the Pier Head, the telephone number at that time being CEN 8421.

Elder Dempster used the Brocklebank Dock in the north docks, and in the south docks the Toxteth Dock and Harrington Dock (with the ED Dock Office between the two), and the Brunswick Dock. The mailboats were based in the Brocklebank Dock and operated from the Prince’s Landing Stage by the Pier Head, adjacent to the boat trains at the Riverside railway station.
